Monica will look at reading Scripture in the context of religious plurality – reading the Bible alongside other sacred texts.
Monica Melanchthon is an ordained Lutheran minister from India. She is currently Associate Professor of the Hebrew Bible at Pilgrim Theological College, University of Divinity. Monica has strong commitments to the marginalised, particularly women and the Dalits, the untouchable caste in India.
Jione will introduce ‘island readings’ of the Bible.
Jione Havea is a Methodist pastor from Tonga, a Hebrew Bible scholar and Research fellow at Trinity Theological College, Auckland and Charles Sturt University, NSW. He is interested in the intersections of cultures, scriptures and religions. Jione lives between Australia, New Zealand and Tonga.
